CICan GPOP Virtual Conference 2022: Moving Forward Together

You are invited to join your colleagues this May in two sessions designed to rejuvenate and inspire you to navigate anew following two years of unprecedented change and disruption.

Keynote
Our keynote address, Two-Eyed Seeing, will be an interactive session exploring the value of multiple perspectives as part of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action. We will discover the role each of us can play in creating a safe and ethical space to learn and work in as we prepare to keep moving forward together. Our guest speaker will be Bruce McKay, a Cree Metis educator who works as the Indigenous Relations and Services Coordinator at Northern Lights College.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

TAKE NOTICE that the Annual General Meeting of the members of CICAN GOVERNANCE AND PRESIDENT’S OFFICE PROFESSIONALS (GPOP) will be held virtually via Teams on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 9am Pacific/10am Mountain/11am Central/12noon Eastern/1pm Atlantic. 

  1. To receive the following reports as information: Chair’s Report; Executive Committee; Awards & Recognition Committee; Conference Committee; Engagement Committee; Membership Committee; Nominating Committee; Professional Development Committee; and Strategic Planning and Partnerships;
  2. To receive the financial statements;
  3. To approve the GPOP 2022/2023 Board of Directors; and
  4. To approve the updates to the Terms of Reference for GPOP.

Fall Message from GPOP Board of Directors Chair

To the Governance and President’s Office Professionals Members,

Happy Fall! I hope everyone is enjoying the excitement of being back on campus!

The listserv (email group) we use to communicate with each other will be retiring in spring 2022. We extend our thanks to Langara College for kindly hosting our listserv over the last ten years. The listserv has been a valuable tool for us to be able to communicate and network with our over 100 members.

Our membership and Communications Committee consulted with the CICan President’s Office this past summer which resulted in CICan very generously offering to provide and host an MS Teams site specifically for GPOP, at no charge.

I am pleased to announce that the GPOP Board of Directors approved the change to MS Teams for our new communication and collaboration platform. We are excited about the many features that will be included such as file storage and videoconferencing. It will allow us to continue communicating with the full membership but in a different way.

Look for an online survey coming out early this winter regarding your familiarity with Teams, what you are looking for, what you find valuable in GPOP, and more.

We expect to make the transition from the listserv to Teams, with a month overlap, in January 2022. More information on the transition will be coming out in the next few months.

GPOP will hold it’s 8th Annual General Meeting today at 10:00am Pacific / 11:00am Mountain / 12:00pm Central / 1:00pm Eastern / 2:00pm Atlantic. Note that the virtual meeting link on the agenda has changed so please check your updated calendar invite for the new link. The agenda package can be found HERE and is password protected for members only. The password is the same as members received in their welcome letter to GPOP. We hope to see many of you at the AGM!
