Marianne Marando is the Associate Vice President, Academic at Durham College. She has over 25 years of experience in advertising, marketing, and strategy and has spent the past 17 years in education. She holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and, prior to starting her career in education, she managed marketing strategy for brands in the consumer-packaged goods and health care sectors.
Marianne started her academic career teaching marketing and business subjects at George Brown College and Seneca College. From there she spent several years as an Academic Chair responsible for programs and faculty in the School of Business at Seneca. She spent four years as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Seneca College where she was responsible for the Seneca brand internally and externally. She led a team that included marketing, communications, media relations, social media, student recruitment and constituent relationship management.
She came to Durham College in 2016 to take on the role of Executive Dean for the School of Business, IT and Management. She took on the role of Associate Vice President, Academic this past November.
Workshop Description: Goal Setting and Accountability
To improve performance, you have to first establish goals. This workshop will cover:
- What makes a goal effective and compelling?
- What are the questions you need to answer before setting goals?
- The 5 principles of SMART goals
Once clear goals have been established, it is important to hold ourselves accountable to our goals and to hold our teams accountable for their goals. This workshop covers the processes and skills necessary to hold others accountable, to coach to improve performance, and ensure execution of goals.
